Configuring Eudora 7.1 for Flexnet GMAIL ACCOUNT
Before setting up your email client (in this
case, Eudora 7.1), you MUST MUST MUST setup your FlexGmail
account for POP access. Failure to do this will doom any email
client from ever working at all!
SETTING UP YOUR FLEXGMAIL ACCOUNT FOR POP3 ACCESS:
1. Please go to http://webmail.flex.com
to get to this login screen.
Sign in with your FLEXNET Username. Then sign in with your
TEMPORARY PASSWORD you were issused.
However, if already changed your password
to something else, then of course put that in instead!
Click "Sign In".
To find out your TEMPORARY PASSWORD, login to the Flexnet Member
section. Your TEMP PASSWORD will be shown to you!

2. Click "Settings" in the upper right hand corner:

3. In the "Settings" screen area, you should be in "GENERAL" tab as
shown (if not, click on "General").
Now, click on "Forwarding and POP":

4. DISABLE FORWARDING, make sure this radio button is checked! Make sure under
"POP Download" you click under #1 the radio button "Enable POP for all mail",
under #2 "delete flex.com's copy. Click "Save Changes" as shown.

Note: In rare cases, you will be denied access to SMTP/POP in
FlexGmail. An error message will appear saying your username/password is wrong
and is not accepted. If you believe this is you, open a help desk trouble ticket
stating the passsword you are putting in. There is a workaround for this specific issue.
SETTING UP Eudora 7.1:
1. Open Eudora 7.1. I am using the Lite Mode version (free mode).
Click on "Tools" in the Menu bar as shown:

2. In the Drop Box for "Tools", Click on "Options..." as indicated:

3. Fill in each indicated box as shown. The "Allow authentication" box
should be already checked but if not, check it. Then, click on the
"Checking Mail" icon on the left hand side:

4. Just double check to see the "Mail Server" says pop.gmail.com and"User Name" has you flex.com
email address in it. In the box for "Check for mail every" I put in 60 (minutes) but you can do it
every minute if you want. I also checked "Don't check without a network connection and also "Send on
check".
Now, under "Secure Sockets when Receiving", click on the right down arrow and in the drop box that
opens, click on "Required, Alternate Port". THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
Now, click on "Sending Mail" icon on the left hand menu:

5. Double check that "Email address" has your flex.com email address in it. Also double check
that "SMTP server" has smtp.gmail.com. Then at the very bottom under "Secure Sockets when Sending",
click on the right drop arrow and in the drop box, click on "Required, Alternate Port". THIS IS VERY
IMPORTANT.

6. Now click on "OK" as shown:

7. You are now back on the main Eudora screen. You are also not yet finished. Click on "File":

8. In the "File" drop box, click on "Check Mail...":

9. In this "Enter Password" box, put in your FlexGmail password. This is initally your
TEMPORARY PASSWORD, but if you changed it, then put that new password in.
Click the box "Remember password for this personality". Then, click "OK":

10. Wow!!! The Sweet Smell of Success! You will see the ying-yang ball spinning and also a
progress bar crawl:

11. Eventually all your email from FlexGmail will download. A Eudora pop up window will tell you
"You have new mail" ! Eudora will also automatically check for new email and download it in the
time interval as set in Step #4. Click on "OK":

12. Now, let's check our sending email capability. Click on "Message" menu item as shown and in
the "Message" drop box, click on the first item "New Message":

13. A new message email compose box will open. Here it's for root. When I am satisfied with my email,
I click "Send" in the upper right of the box:

14. Eudora spins the ball and moves the progress bar as shown to let me know my email is indeed going
out!!!

Your Eudora is now configured for use with FlexGmail and will automatically
check for new incoming email every X minutes as set in Step #4.
