Configuring OUTLOOK Express in your Flexnet GMAIL ACCOUNT

Before setting up your email client (in this case, Outlook Express), you MUST MUST MUST setup your FlexGmail account for POP access. Failure to do this will doom any email client from ever working at all!

SETTING UP YOUR FLEXGMAIL ACCOUNT FOR POP3 ACCESS:

1. Please go to
http://webmail.flex.com to get to this login screen.
Sign in with your FLEXNET Username. Then sign in with your TEMPORARY PASSWORD you were issused. However, if already changed your password to something else, then of course put that in instead! Click "Sign In".

To find out your TEMPORARY PASSWORD, login to the Flexnet Member section. Your TEMP PASSWORD will be shown to you!

2. Click "Settings" in the upper right hand corner:

3. In the "Settings" screen area, you should be in "GENERAL" tab as shown (if not, click on "General").
Now, click on "Forwarding and POP":

4. DISABLE FORWARDING, make sure this radio button is checked! Make sure under "POP Download" you click under #1 the radio button "Enable POP for all mail", under #2 "delete flex.com's copy. Click "Save Changes" as shown.

Note: In rare cases, you will be denied access to SMTP/POP in FlexGmail. An error message will appear saying your username/password is wrong and is not accepted. If you believe this is you, open a help desk trouble ticket stating the passsword you are putting in. There is a workaround for this specific issue.

Note: Outlook Express is one of the most hacked and insecure mail client programs out there. Outlook Express is one of the major spam/worm/virus vectors out there surpassed only by Microsoft Windows itself.

Why would you want to use a program like there for?

Be as it may, outlook express is also the most widely used mail client programs out there. As suck, I mean, as such, I do feel obligated to present a walk-thru on configuring Outlook Express for use with our FlexGmail system

SETTING UP MICROSOFT'S OUTHOUSE EXPRESS:

1. Okay, open the fool thing.

A program that could possibly bring down your computer, steal all your passwords, wreck havoc with your life, spam your friends and boss never ever looked so good, eh? Bill Gates was once quoted as saying no one should use OE because of its hackability. What does that tell you, huh huh huh???

Click on "Tools" in the menu bar as shown:

2. Did the world blow up yet?

Under "Tools", click on "Accounts..." in the drop down box as shown:

3. Tick...tick...tick. It's a bomb.

Okay, in the pop up window "Internet Accounts", select "Add" as shown:

4. "When will they every learn.... when will they...ever....learn?"

Slide your mouse cursor to the right and click on "Mail..." as shown:

5. Another popup. Put in the name you want tagged into all the spam you'll be sending out due to yet another outlook express virus, as shown. Clicky click, Nexty Next:

6. I'm getting depressed. Just read the screenshot and do whatever it asks, then hit "Next", Spam-Boy: (Hint: Make sure you got "@flex.com" in there somplace...)

7. Ya doing good. Keep on going and hit "Next", Pharm Master:

8. Okay, let's get serious, we don't want any of your worm virus emails to get sent to NSA by mistake, right?

In the "Account name:" box, PUT IN YOUR USERNAME followed by the "@flex.com". Also, in the "Password" box, PUT IN YOUR FLEXGMAIL password. If you did nothing, then it'll be your TEMP PASSWORD. If you changed your password here in FlexGmail, then put that password in.

Don't make a mistake here! Re-read the paragraph above if in doubt! You really must create that perfect heaven for hackers... Check "Remember password" and then click Next:

9. Click "Finish"...but you really ain't. (you'll see) Don't believe this microsoft program saying "you have successfully entered ALL of the blah-bhah". They lie thru their teeth!:

10. Right, you are not yet done.

We have to setup still more stuffs. So, highlight "pop.gmail.com" as shown and then click on the "Properties" button on the right side, as shown:

11. Almost done, just 10,000 more steps to go!

First, just double check that your "Name" and "E-mail address" is correct else nothing is gonna work! I hope there is a "@flex.com" at the end of your email address. Also, check the box "Include this account when receiving...". Now, click the "Advanced" tab as shown:

12. Put in "465" in the Outgoing mail [SMTP] box as shown (don't leave it at "25", that is wrong wrong wrong!)

Put "995" (it's prolly this already, but check to make sure) in the Incoming mail [POP3] box. Make sure the two boxes got checks as shown. WAY IMPORTANT. Finally, click on "Apply" button as shown:

13. If you did things right, the "Apply" button you just pressed is now greyed out. Click on "Servers" tab as shown:

14. Double check to see that everything looks like what is shown here. Now, check the box next to "My server requires authentication". THIS IS IMPORTANT!

Now click on the "Apply" button on the bottom as shown:

15. Again, if you did everything correctly, the "Apply" button you just hit on will be grey. Now, click on "OK" as shown:

16. Click on "CLOSE" and that is that!!!

All done oh. Complete. Finished. I thank you, and hackers around the world THANK YOU TOO!
