Configuring OUTLOOK 2003 in your Flexnet GMAIL ACCOUNT
Before setting up your email client (in this case, Outlook 2003), you MUST MUST MUST setup your FlexGmail account for POP access. Failure to do this will doom any email client from ever working at all!
SETTING UP YOUR FLEXGMAIL ACCOUNT FOR POP3 ACCESS:
1. Please go to http://webmail.flex.com to get to this login screen.
Sign in with your FLEXNET Username. Then sign in with your TEMPORARY PASSWORD you were issused. However, if already changed your password to something else, then of course put that in instead! Click "Sign In".
To find out your TEMPORARY PASSWORD, login to the Flexnet Member section. Your TEMP PASSWORD will be shown to you!
2. Click "Settings" in the upper right hand corner:
3. In the "Settings" screen area, you should be in "GENERAL" tab as shown (if not, click on "General").
Now, click on "Forwarding and POP":
4. DISABLE FORWARDING, make sure this radio button is checked! Make sure under "POP Download" you click under #1 the radio button "Enable POP for all mail", under #2 "delete flex.com's copy. Click "Save Changes" as shown.

EMAIL PROGRAM CONFIGURATION
Note: Outlook is one of the most hacked and insecure mail client programs out there. Outlook Express is one of the major spam/worm/virus vectors out there surpassed only by Microsoft Windows itself.
Why would you want to use a program like this for?
Be as it may, outlook is also the most widely used mail client programs out there. As suck, I mean, as such, I do feel obligated to present a walk-thru on configuring Outlook for use with our FlexGmail system
SETTING UP MICROSOFT'S OUTHOUSE, I mean OUTLOOK:
1. Okay, open the fool thing.
A program that could possibly bring down your computer, steal all your passwords, wreck havoc with your life, spam your friends and boss never ever looked so good, eh? Bill Gates was once quoted as saying no one should use OE because of its hackability. What does that tell you, huh huh huh???
Click on "Tools" in the menu bar as shown and in the drop box, click on "E-mail Accounts...":
2. Did the world blow up yet?
Select "Add a new e-mail account" radio button, then click "Next":
3. Tick...tick...tick. It's a bomb.
Okay, choose "POP3" radio button here and then click on "Next":
4. "When will they every learn.... when will they...ever....learn?"
Within this window, you have to do a lotta stuffs.
In the "Your Name" box, put in the name you wanna tag all the Spam you'll be sending out when the next Outlook-targeted virus/worm hits. In BOTH the "E-mail Address" and the "User Name" boxes, put in your @flex.com address. I'm "del" so it's "del@flex.com" here.
Going down one box, in the "Password" box, put in your FlexGmail password. By default it is your TEMP password we assign you. Login to your Flexnet Secure member section to find out what that is. If you changed your FlexGmail password, then of course put THAT new password in. Click the checkbox "Remember password".
Go up to the top right. Now in the "Incoming mail server (POP3)" box, put in "pop.gmail.com" and in the "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" box put in "smtp.gmail.com".
Finally, hit "More Settings..."
5. Another popup. Click on "Outgoing Server". Click "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". Then click the radio button "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" if it isn't already checked::
6. Okay, hit on "Advanced" Menu tab. Make sure you click both check boxes "This server requires an encrypted connect (SSL)" as shown. TWO check boxes, both checked!
Make sure the port numbers are "995" for "Incoming server (POP3)" and "465" for "Outgoing server (SMTP)".
Finally, click "OK" to save everything.
Now, click on "Test Account Settings..." to check your setup. You should be getting a message "Congratulations! All tests completed successfully". Click on "Close". Then click "Next" and then click "Finish".
I don't have any screenshots here cause I don't really have Outlook 2003 to play with. I took the GMAIL help screens and altered them for your use.
...so just use what you see on your Outlook 2003 as your guide.
I'm really amazed that a few of you guys are having so much probs just doing simple stuffs like this. I mean, come on.
With the following info, you can set up ANY EMAIL PROGRAM OUT THERE that supports SSL. ANY PROGRAM!!

Password: Your FlexGmail password
User needs to enable POP3 Access on Gmail: Yes. See Below.
Alternate POP3: pop.gmail.com Port: 587 TLS: Yes
