a major violator of u.s. trade laws concerning chinese textiles is an international fugitive.
between february 1990 and february 1991, peter ping-shan yeung, manager of lucky country ltd., fraudulently imported more than ten million dollars' worth of chinese-made clothing into the u.s. yeung falsely declared that the clothing was produced in mozambique, portugal, and zimbabwe. he was indicted by a federal court in new york on december 12th, 1994, on ninety-one counts of "entry of goods by false means," ninety-one counts of smuggling, and one count of conspiracy.
peter ping-shan yeung was born on may 25th, 1943, in kwangtung, china. he is one meter 72 centimeters in height, weighs 75 kilograms, and has receding black hair and brown eyes. he has a cleft chin and a surgical scar on his chest. he suffers from a heart condition. a u.s. citizen, yeung has a wife, jessica hsin ying wu, believed to be in taiwan, and two sons currently residing in orange county, california. peter yeung is known for his lavish lifestyle and often wears expensive jewelry. he speaks english and chinese. he was convicted of assault in taiwan in 1972 and of trade law violations in hong kong in 1992.
on august 26th, 1996, yeung was arrested by authorities in macao, who ordered his extradition to the u.s. on december 19th, yeung escaped from custody and fled macao. he is believed to be in hong kong or china.
